We're so pleased to be selected as a stockist of the new Tube series from Leff and designer Piet Hein Eek. Piet Hein Eek is said to be one of the top 10 designers in the world and you may have heard about him already. He co-designed the 'scrapwood' series for NLXL wallpapers, and has been involved in many high profile design collaborations, also designing furniture, lighting and complete interiors.
This time he got together with the guys at Leff Amsterdam and created the Tube series, clocks, matching bluetooth speakers and the Tube Wood clocks. They are beautiful - Leff Amsterdam manufacture the tube clocks and speakers themselves and the workmanship is second to none.
The Tube Clock and Tube Audio are available in steel, brass and copper, and the Tube Wood available in steel/Natural Hevea; brass/Brown Oak and copper/Black Ash.
They are in store now and online, check them out!

Men can be tough to buy for. I feel kind of sorry for them in a way - if they even remotely show a slight interest in something, everyone in the family jumps in and buys them more of the same - so keen to get them something they like. Then they end up with 50 pigs in assorted mediums.... or 10 fishing rods in different colours... or enough wine paraphernalia to sink a ship. Take my husband for example. He loves motorbikes, windsurfing and old Chevys. In past years he has received model motorbikes, motorbike magazines, waterproof phone cases, fluffy dice and books on old american cars. Most of those gifts went 'straight to the pool room' and haven't been seen since.
We've tried to get together some interesting and useful things for the blokes in your life. The Junkyard Dog tees are a great example. Most guys will remember [with extreme fondness] the first car they learned to drive in / owned / lost-their-virginity-in / raced in / cherished. The Junkyard Dog range covers most Kiwi Classics and the tees are available in sizes ranging from medium to XXL. This year we're offering prints in selected models too, which will be arriving in late November. Check out our "For Him" section on our website for more ideas for your man. There's some great products there and more arriving every week.
A reminder that we love to treat our newsletter subscribers and facebook followers with a treat at the end of their hardworking week with our "Friday Specials" - we pick one item from the store and drastically reduce it ... to hear about the Specials first, click here to sign up:
Melbourne. Melbs. Melbz... what a great place, especially when you're there finding homewares and decor accessories for your store! I am always reminded whenever I visit these gift fairs just how many really clever people there are out there. And I feel especially lucky that I get to curate these wonderful items at Room99. On this visit there were a lot more contemporary products on display compared with last year when the 'vintage lookalike' products tended to overwhelm the mix. Whilst the vintage pieces still look great contrasted against our more modern furniture, it was refreshing to have a look through some nice sleek streamlined pieces that will complement our ranges too.
Nice to see a lot of colour coming through in the decor accessories, although as most of you who have visited the store will know I tend to favour black, white and naturals! But have pushed the boat out this time and we've added some nice splashes of colour to celebrate the coming summer. Watch out for the Cockatoos, more Blunt umbrella colours and Eva Solo brings a great berry red into the store with their Lungo coffee tumblers. Oh - and we've just received our new shipment of Seletti, including the 'Seletti wears Toiletpaper' range - it's amazing.
Look forward to seeing you instore - remember check out our "new" section on the website, it's always being updated with our latest additions.

After three years in a row, my friend Karen and I are relative newbies to Gift Fairs. But we're quick learners.
When the Room99 store became a reality back in 2012 and we needed homewares and accessories, we signed up for our first fair, and raced to Auckland armed with big handbags (would we need to carry lots of brochures?), water bottles (were there even any cafés?) and of course some Panadol (how sore were our feet really going to get?). Turned out that trying to take in your first fair in one day was a bit ambitious - but we did our best and at the end of the day like a couple of stunned mullets we staggered out of the exit, shuffled towards a taxi and returned to Wellington. We met some fabulous suppliers and sourced our some fantastic product to enhance our furniture range - Room99 was on its way.
This year, as in 2013, we visited the Melbourne Life Instyle fair. In my next blog I'll share our experiences there and some of the exciting new products we have coming to the store over the next couple of months. I have to say at this point that by quick learners, I meant we have now added NZ Pinot noir to our arsenal of equipment to assist with big days at Fairs!
